The Royal Black Watch

Questions and Answers

Q Is the Yahoo mail string required?
A

Our mail string is completely optional. You can sign up if you wish.

Q Who should I talk to if I have troubles?
A

Your chain of command starts with your Company Commander, then if that doesn't resolve anything, go to your Force Commander, and if you still have troubles, go to the Guildmaster.

Q I can talk directly to the Regiment Commander about a problem?
A

YES! He doesn't bite, really! Feel free to mail him about whatever issues with RBW you might have, no matter how big or little.

Q I have a problem with an officer, who should I talk to?
A

The guildmaster. See above.

Q Is the SOP our rulebook?
A

No. It's a set of guidelines. Every situation is unique, so officers must rely on their common sense.

Q Who can give awards?
A

Any officer can issue an award.

Q I play more than one game, so can I join RBW and be in more than one company?
A

Each character can only be in one company; however, you can create "alternates" in any company. Your main character is placed in the company of the game that you play the most, and you can place alternates in a company of any other game that you play.

Q What if RBW doesn't support the game I want to play?
A

Any member of the Watch can start a new company; all you have to do is get four members to be dedicated to that game and join your company. Also, sometimes RBW members play games together casually that we don't officially support. Finally, RBW frequently forms alliances with other guilds for playing games that RBW doesn't support, so seek them out.

Q Is the guildmaster the only one who can recruit new members?
A

No, any member who is a full member (e.g. not a Recruit himself) can sponsor a new member. To do so, direct the potential member to the website and ask him or her to fill out the application, putting your name in as his sponsor.

Q If I change companies, do I lose my rank?
A

If you are a SGT or below, your rank will not change. If you are a SFC or above, then yes, it may. Your rank in that case is at the discretion of the Force Commander and the Company Commander.

Q I have been a Private for 2 years, 4 months, 21 days, 6 hours, and 42 minutes...when do I get promoted?
A

Members are promoted at the discretion of the Company Commander based on performance. There is a recommended timeline, but that timeline is only a guideline. Note that time spent in the IRR does not count toward the recommended timeline.

Q But I don't want to be promoted! Can I stay a career Private?
A

Promotions to Sergeant are pretty much automatic for being a good member and have no real responsibilities. Positions above Sergeant come with extra responsibilities but you do not need to take these positions if you don't want them.

Q I am an officer and I feel that I cannot handle the job. Do I have to resign from the Watch?
A

No, you can always reduce your position to another officer slot, or back to a non-officer position if you want to. It is up to the Company Commander to decide your fate once you decide that you cannot handle the job that you have been selected for.

Q Why is the Watch set up like the military?
A

The format for the guild is military, but it is loosely military and as such there is a lot of room for fun and comradeship. Feel free to chat and discuss things with other members on the forums or TeamSpeak.

Q Where are the events? We never do anything together.
A

The event calendar can be found here. If your company is lacking events, talk to your Company Commander, or run some events yourself.

Q How do I join a roleplay on the forums?
A

You can join in at any time. Just send a message to the member who is running the roleplay (this is usually the Loremaster). That person can give you whatever information you need to set up your character.
