General Discussion / Take it for what it is worth...to YOU
« on: March 19, 2011, 04:55:47 pm »
I write music for a small label in Nashville that has been very kind to me, and instead of pushing me to tour and make them money, has allowed me to do what I love, and just send them music every month.  I have been blessed to have a few people use my music, but lately no one huge that most people would know.  Because of this, I get a small, but appreciated, check every month from ASCAP for royalties and song use.  I may never be famous, but I love the freedom it offers me, and my ability to express myself without some one hovering over my shoulder, "insert label name here", telling me that my songs sound just like "insert artists name here", and I need to do better.  Been there....done that!  So why in the gaming world, do we do this to other creative souls, because that is what each game is, a creation, someones brain child.  Yes; I am intelligent enough that I understand the inner workings of our human nature and how we compare and contrast everything, but really?  Are there things in every single game that I loathe?  YES!  Are there things, that if I look hard enough I will love?  Probably. Yet, every single new game that comes out instantly has to go against "insert game name here".  That really is unfair.  Just as anticipating that my latest song will be as popular as Zac Brown's "Chicken Fried" (which he wrote and played for over 10 years before it hit the radio waves and became popular).   ;D

I can not venture into public forums any longer because of all of the trolls, or my absolute favorite: This isn't "insert game name here" and never will be! threads.  It makes me sad when I see people insert their biased, one sided, opinion of a game based on what they "thought" it would be.  Where did you get this information?  How did you come up with the ideas that this game would be anything other than what the web site, interviews, beta, or game play videos stated/showed?  Yet over and over again, game after game, people will rant and rave about what a game isn't, instead of what it is?  Maybe I am just one of those people that believes "the glass isn't half full, I just have room for more beverage" type of people, but, really?  If you are sooooo enamored by "insert game name here" then stick with it!  Enjoy, play, live long and prosper!  Please don't ruin the experience of a new game because you feel it is your duty to defend the honor of "insert game name here", with which all other games just don't hold a candle to.   >:(   Well Mioel I never!  Haven't you heard of free speech!  Are you a commie?!  I don't have to have a shred of decorum, I only need to speak my mind!  Some how, I don't believe that is what our fore-fathers intended!

If you are so hard pressed for a new game that meets all the standards of "insert game name here" then get a loan for a few million dollars, hire the best geeks on the planet, and put out your own baby.  Just don't be upset when you start receiving the same comments you dished out to other devs and game enthusiasts; this is not "insert game name here" and never will be!

Just something to think about next time you are in game, or on the forums somewhere thinking of letting the verbal or written cannons loose!   :P

General Discussion / Que Times Have Ceased To Be An Issue
« on: March 04, 2011, 04:08:49 pm »
Hello Watchers!

I know some of you through hearing it from others, or just plain experiencing it for yourselves, had the que times of 3-5+ hours at the beginning of Headstart in Rift.
This situation has been corrected and the longest que times we have seen have been 40minutes during peak hours.  I would encourage you to come back into the
the game and experience the fun yet again.  I think you will love the company we have gathered and those that run with the RBW!  Hope to see you soon!

It is not a question of what will happen to you as much as it is, what do you want from RBW, your game play, and this game in particular.
Though, you are set on which side you would like to play, indicating Sith, as Aeren stated,  the RBW will begin on an opposing side.  Therefore, to
join us in this game initially, you would need to be with us as Jedi.  Will you be beaten about the face and neck, hog tied, or tossed from the RBW? NO!
But we would love it, if all of our members that play this game would support the team decision and ride with us for a bit as we play through this
path.  I am sure that eventually, if for nothing else but to experience all aspects of the game, their will be off-shoots of the RBW on the Sith side.

I hope this helps.  If anyone has anything to add that I may have left out, please do so.

General Discussion / Re: Guild Wars Get-Together in Game

If you still have the game, load it up and join us.  There are people usually in this game, Thursday evenings we run through
GW 1, Tuesdays are DDO nights, and I am going to try and set up a night or two like Mondays, for Rift all out runs to include
those players in multiple games.

I got the GW trilogy so I could try and get as many points together for the release of GW 2, but it seems to be much more fun when
you have people you like to run with, and that know the game well,  in game with you.

lol-I love that we have a very intelligent group of people in the Watch, and as such, have tendencies to get a bit off the original subject.
I guess our proverbial wheels are turning too quickly to merely stay on point...hehehe

Thank you op for posting this thread about the trailer....... lol.....I am on the fence about trying this game, but the recent meeting and this
trailer made me much more interested.

Thanks!

General Discussion / Pete Postlethwaite

I know in the land of milk and honey stars die everyday.  Some we hear about through various media means and others fade to the four winds.
I don't know whether it is because I have seen too much death in my 45 years on this blue ball, or because my father, now 65, is in the realm
of where most of the men in our family pass from this earthly realm, or because I really truly loved Pete as an actor, but I was very struck by this
news this morning that he had died at 64.  I have seen him in a few movies, all of which I have loved.  He gained fame from movies like
In the Name of the Father", the true life story of the Guildford Four; but I particularly loved him for smaller roles where to me, he made an impact
though the movie itself, maybe have been considered less than stellar.  One such film, is the part he plays of the fisherman father to Perseus in the remake
of "Clash of the Titans".  I love his accent, and how though he can bring out some serious brogue, his attention to inflection of words and annunciation
allow you to understand everything being said.  They said he had originally gone to school to become a priest, may he now be at rest with the Father.

Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto. Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper, et in saecula saeculorum. Amen.

General Discussion / Re: Tis the season to give...Operation Christmas Kong
« on: December 15, 2010, 08:40:04 pm »
I just wanted to applaud your efforts.  Though I am a huge believer in giving of ourselves all the time, not just at Christmas, this is a noble cause indeed.
My family and I participate with the local Soup Kitchen and Food Bank year around.  I can not imagine the devastation of losing all my possessions, however
there is certainly comfort in that the family still has their health, and each other, which is truly far more important.  Blessings to you and yours this holiday
season, and to all the Watcher's out there!
