The last of the two founders of D&D passed away a few days ago. One way or another both he and Gary Gygax are responsible for many of the games we play, be it just the imagination required to create a game such as Neverwinter Nights or LotRO.
Hail and farewell Mr. Arneson.
So, how many here besides me had, at one time or another, the full set (http://www.dadsdnd.com/), in their original condition?

A very sad day. I still have some of my really old books tucked away. They were my father's and all of his charts and tables he made by hand are still in them. It is a really neat window into the history of gaming and my father.

I got to leaf through a copy of the first edition D&D books at a collector's store in Illinois. It was a three-book set that had apparently been done on a typewriter at some point and then reprinted.

Well all I know is that if I had a thimble of the creativity that they had I would be much better off.
